A 1914 fact book announced one of "the quaintest of the concessions": a reproduction of the old market place of Nuremberg to cost $225,000. Its banquet halls, folk-dance halls, restaurant, cafe and concert garden would be "reproduced as they existed five centuries ago", with staff in fifteenth-century costume. The Official Guide listed it simply as "a reproduction of the world-famous city of Nurnberg."
Todd calls Alt Nürnberg "a German place of a good type." Whatever the war did to German participation elsewhere, it did not hurt this restaurant. The "Old Nuremburg Restaurant" took in $353,757.44, the fifth-largest gross of the 455 concessions at the fair.
